Pouzor bf8551015c feat(canvas): distinguish new user from cleared canvas; stop demo on backend error
Cleared canvas re-showed the demo, and backend errors silently fell back to
demo — hiding real outages and forcing users to wipe demo nodes before bulk
edits. Now:
- backend load reports `initialized` (CanvasState row exists = ever saved)
- decideCanvasLoad() picks real | empty | demo; empty is kept empty
- backend down/error shows an error banner + toast, never the demo
- data-new-user flag reserved as the Getting Started walkthrough hook

Pouzor b99450db2f feat: scheduled auto-sync for Zigbee & Z-Wave imports
Mirror the Proxmox auto-sync pattern for the Zigbee2MQTT and Z-Wave JS
UI mesh imports. Connection config + MQTT credentials live in .env only,
are never persisted to scan_config.json, and are never returned by any
API or shown in the UI (single source of truth).

- config: ZIGBEE_* / ZWAVE_* env settings; only sync_enabled+interval
  are persisted, connection/credentials stay env-only
- routes: GET/POST /config, POST /sync-now; auto-sync reuses the exact
  manual _background_*_import + _persist_pending_import path (fresh
import when empty, update-in-place when nodes exist, ScanRun trace)
- scheduler: zigbee_sync / zwave_sync jobs with live enable + reschedule
- frontend: reusable MeshAutoSync section in Settings (Zigbee, Z-Wave)
- .env.example: documented both blocks
- tests: scheduler jobs, router config/sync-now/auth, credential-never-
  persisted, SettingsModal sections

Manual Zigbee/Z-Wave import behaviour is unchanged.

Pouzor 0792105b96 feat: prompt on duplicate device instead of silently blocking/merging approve
Single-device approve now guards duplicates per-design the same way bulk
approve does, and asks the user instead of failing or silently merging:

- create_node and approve_device reject a same-design duplicate (ieee, ip
or mac) with 409 + the existing node; a force flag creates it anyway.
- Frontend shows a confirm dialog: go to existing node, add duplicate
  anyway, or cancel.
- approve_device no longer rejects a device already on another canvas
(status is global, canvas membership is per-design) — it can be placed
on a new design, matching bulk approve.
- IEEE (Zigbee/Z-Wave) devices now use the same prompt as ip/mac instead
of auto-merging into the existing node.
- bulk approve reports which devices it skipped as duplicates.

Pouzor 9437a74147 feat: manual Proxmox re-sync button + make connection config env-only
Add a 'Re-sync now' button to the Proxmox auto-sync settings section that
triggers an immediate inventory import (POST /proxmox/sync-now) using the
server env config — the manual counterpart to scheduled auto-sync.

Also fix a dual-source-of-truth bug: Proxmox connection config (host, port,
token, verify_tls) is now env-only and never persisted to scan_config.json.
Previously save_overrides() dumped host/port/verify alongside scan settings,
so saving an unrelated setting wrote an empty proxmox_host that load_overrides
then clobbered PROXMOX_HOST with on every boot. Only the auto-sync activation
(sync_enabled + sync_interval) stays user-editable and persisted.

Pouzor 0b4bd5680d feat: create a new canvas by copying an existing one
Add a 'Copy from existing' option to the New Canvas modal. It lists every
canvas with node/group/text counts; picking one deep-copies its nodes, edges,
parent/child links and canvas state (viewport, custom style, floor plan) into
a fresh design.

Backend: POST /designs/{source_id}/copy remaps node ids, re-points edges and
parent links, and clones canvas state; GET /designs now returns per-design
counts for the picker. Standalone mode clones the localStorage canvas.

Pouzor adf82f8f01 feat: merge IP-scanned and Proxmox-imported devices by MAC
Reconcile the same physical device discovered by both the nmap IP scan and
the Proxmox importer into a single inventory row, keyed on MAC. Previously
each path only deduped by IP, and the importer captured no MAC (and no IP for
stopped guests), so most guests double-listed.

Backend:
- mac_utils.normalize_mac: canonical MAC (lowercase, ':'-separated), the
cross-source join key. Normalized on write and on compare.
- proxmox_service: capture the guest NIC MAC agent-free from the net0 config
(qemu virtio=<MAC>, lxc hwaddr=<MAC>); works for stopped guests. Resolver
  now returns (ip, mac).
- proxmox persist: match existing Node/PendingDevice by ieee OR ip OR MAC;
fill mac, keep the vm/lxc type, union sources.
- scanner persist: match PendingDevice by ip OR MAC; fill the IP a Proxmox
import lacked, keep a pve row's type, union the scan source. Stamp query
matches raw + normalized MAC (legacy-safe).
- Multi-source tags: new PendingDevice.discovery_sources JSON column so a
merged device shows under both the IP and Proxmox filters. Idempotent
migration backfills from discovery_source (legacy NULL-scalar rows with an
IP become ["arp"]). _sources_after_merge preserves a scanned row's IP origin
through the merge without tagging a pure Proxmox guest.
- Import now broadcasts a scan update on completion so an open inventory
  reloads without a manual refresh.

Frontend:
- pendingSources: sourceBuckets/orderedSources map discovery_sources to filter
buckets; a device with ["arp","proxmox"] matches both filters and renders
both badges. PendingDevicesModal filter + badges use them.

Tests: MAC normalization, config MAC capture, cross-source merge both
directions, legacy-row IP-tag preservation, no-false-IP-tag guard, refresh
broadcast, and the frontend bucket mapping.

Pouzor abefc42fdf fix: tolerate legacy NULL properties on pending devices
The pending_devices.properties column is added by an idempotent migration, so
existing rows have properties = NULL. PendingDeviceResponse typed it as a list,
so GET /scan/pending 500'd on any pre-existing device.

- Coerce NULL/non-list properties to [] in PendingDeviceResponse.
- Backfill existing NULL rows to '[]' in init_db migrations.
- Regression test: /scan/pending returns 200 with a legacy NULL-properties row.

Pouzor ab36ba6f81 feat: import hosts/VMs/LXC from Proxmox VE with optional auto-sync
Add a Proxmox VE importer that reads the /api2/json REST API with a read-only
API token and drops hosts (proxmox), VMs (vm) and LXC containers (lxc) onto the
canvas as typed nodes with run state and hardware specs (vCPU/RAM/disk).

- Backend: proxmox_service (httpx) + proxmox routes (test-connection, import,
import-pending, config). Two-tier dedupe — merge onto an existing scanned node
by IP, else synthetic pve-{host}-{vmid} identity. Update-in-place, never
deletes. Host->guest rendered as a 'virtual' edge via the pending-link flow.
- Security: token is env-only (PROXMOX_TOKEN_*), never written to disk by the
app, never returned by any endpoint; errors are credential-sanitized.
- Auto-sync: optional scheduled re-import into pending (APScheduler job).
- PendingDevice.properties carries specs through approve (+ migration).
- Frontend: ProxmoxImportModal, sidebar entry, pending inventory source filter,
  Settings auto-sync section, proxmoxApi client.
- Docs: docs/proxmox-import.md, README + FEATURES sections, .env.example keys.
- Tests: backend service/router/scheduler, frontend modal/client/pending.

Pouzor 485d2f2b04 feat: configurable edge line style + width per type and per edge
Edge render (solid/dashed/dotted) and stroke width were hardcoded per
edge type. Expose both as user settings.

- Custom Style modal (Edges): line-style buttons, 1-4x width slider,
live preview; left-list swatch renders the actual line.
- Per-edge EdgeModal: same controls; line style follows the type preset
  live until overridden.
- Renderer applies line_style/width_mult over BASE_STYLES (width scales
markers + animation overlays); unset keeps the type default look.
- Persist line_style/width_mult through serializer, canvas save, and the
edges API (new nullable columns, idempotent migration).

Pouzor c95d104245 feat: selectable marker shapes per edge endpoint
Replace the on/off arrowhead toggle with a per-end shape picker. Each end
(start/end) independently selects: none, arrow, arrow-open, circle, diamond,
or square. Markers still recolor live from the resolved stroke color.

Frontend:
- MarkerShape type + edgeMarkers util (normalizeMarker, MARKER_GEOMETRY);
legacy boolean coerces to 'arrow' on read.
- Per-shape <marker> inner geometry; symmetric shapes use fixed orient.
- MarkerShapePicker reused in EdgeModal and CustomStyleModal.
- Serializer normalizes to shape strings.

Backend:
- Edge marker columns Boolean -> String (default 'none'); TEXT migration.
- normalize_marker() + validators coerce legacy bool / unknown values.

Pouzor 1cf525844b feat: arrowhead endpoints for edges + fix parallel edges not rendering
Add optional filled-triangle arrowheads at either end of an edge,
independently toggleable per edge (EdgeModal) and as per-edge-type
defaults (CustomStyleModal). Arrowheads are custom inline <marker> defs
filled with the live stroke colour so they recolour reactively with
custom_color / vlan / selected state. Persisted frontend (serializer)
and backend (edge columns + schemas + runtime migration).

Also fix two dedupe layers that silently dropped legitimate parallel
links between the same two devices:
- store: React Flow addEdge() connectionExists dropped a second edge
with matching source+target when handles were null/equal. Build the
edge with a unique id and append directly.
- render: rewireEdgesForCollapse deduped ALL edges by src->tgt key even
when nothing was collapsed, filtering real parallel edges out of the
visible set. Restrict the anti-mesh dedupe to rewired collapse stubs.

Tests: marker render, per-edge/per-type UI, store apply, serializer
round-trip, backend edge/canvas persistence, parallel-edge regressions.

Pouzor 6302c43e06 fix: persist top/left/right connection-point counts (issue #243)
The backend only stored bottom_handles, so top/left/right_handles were dropped
on canvas save and reset to defaults on reload — a left/right snappoint would
vanish after reload.

- models.py: add top_handles (default 1), left_handles (0), right_handles (0)
- database.py: ALTER TABLE migrations for the three columns
- schemas: add fields to NodeBase, NodeUpdate, and the canvas-save node schema
- tests: save+reload round-trip and default-fallback coverage

Pouzor cbc2bc03c2 fix: attach MCP-created nodes/edges to a design (#225)
create_node/create_edge persisted rows with design_id=null when the
client omitted it (the MCP write tools), so they existed in the DB but
never rendered on the canvas until a container restart reconciled them.
Both routes now fall back to the first design, matching bulk-approve.

Also fix MCP resource reads (homelable://canvas, homelable://edges):
the framework passes a pydantic AnyUrl, not a str, which raised
"'AnyUrl' object has no attribute 'startswith'". Coerce to str.

EdgeResponse now exposes design_id for symmetry with NodeResponse.

Pouzor 612280e924 feat: show inventory timestamps on Device Inventory tiles
Surface the same lifecycle timestamps on the Device Inventory cards as on the
detail panel. Tiles for devices placed on a canvas show their linked node's
created / last scan / last modified / last seen (correlated by ip or
ieee_address, aggregated across matches: created = oldest, others = newest).
Devices not yet on any canvas fall back to their discovered_at.

Rendered as compact relative times ("2d ago") with the full date on hover, in
a tight two-column footer so the tile keeps its original footprint.

Backend: PendingDeviceResponse gains node_created_at / node_last_scan /
node_last_modified / node_last_seen; the canvas correlation now also pulls node
timestamps in the same single query. Frontend: shared timeFormat util
(absolute + relative), reused by the detail panel.

Pouzor 19b7d38ec0 feat: surface inventory timestamps on nodes
Add creation_date, last_scan and last_modify to the node inventory and the
right-hand detail panel (last_seen already shown):

- creation_date  -> existing created_at column
- last_modify -> existing updated_at column (bumped on any node change)
- last_scan      -> new column, stamped when a scan observes a node by IP/MAC
- last_seen      -> unchanged

Backend: new nodes.last_scan column + idempotent migration, NodeResponse
field, scanner stamps matching canvas nodes per scanned host. Frontend:
NodeData fields + DetailPanel rows with UTC-safe timestamp formatting.

Pouzor d7ab4ba49a feat: Device Inventory — show all scanned devices with canvas-presence
Reworks the "Pending Devices" panel into a "Device Inventory": scanned
devices already placed on a canvas are no longer suppressed — they stay
listed and badged with how many canvases they appear on.

- scanner: stop deleting/skipping on-canvas IPs (hidden still suppressed)
- scan API: /pending returns all non-hidden devices; compute canvas_count
by correlating ip/ieee_address against nodes grouped by design
- frontend: rename to "Device Inventory", top-right canvas-count corner,
toggle to show/hide on-canvas devices (default show)

Pouzor 2f3e986d4a fix(nodes): persist show_port_numbers across reloads
The Show Port Numbers toggle reset on every reload because the backend
never stored it: the column was missing from the Node model and the field
was stripped by NodeSave/NodeBase/NodeUpdate schemas, so canvas/save
silently dropped it.

Add the show_port_numbers column (idempotent migration), and the field to
the node schemas so it round-trips through save/load.

Add regression tests covering persistence and the default-false case.

Pouzor 12d527aad6 feat: manage canvases with custom name and icon
Make designs (canvases) fully user-manageable: create with a chosen name
and icon, rename, change icon, and delete. Replaces the hardcoded
"New Electrical Design" button with a generic "New Canvas" flow.

- Add Design.icon column + migration that backfills legacy rows
(electrical -> zap, others -> dashboard)
- DesignModal: name input + curated lucide icon picker (create + edit)
- Sidebar switcher gains per-canvas edit/delete; delete guards the last
  canvas and confirms
- designStore: addDesign/updateDesign/removeDesign with active reassignment
- Fix data loss on design switch: abort load when the save fails and keep
unsaved edits; skip the save-old step when the previous canvas was deleted
- designsApi create/update carry icon; design_type kept for back-compat

Tests: backend design CRUD (icon + cascade + last-canvas guard), designStore
actions, designIcons resolver, DesignModal create/edit/validation.

Pranjal Joshi 46435605eb feat: multi-design canvas system with electrical nodes/edges
Backend: New Design model + designs table; design_id FK on nodes, edges, canvas_state; migration seeds default 'Network Topology' design; full CRUD API for designs; canvas load/save accept design_id.

Frontend: designStore (Zustand), design switcher in Sidebar, design-aware canvas load/save, auto-save on design switch.

Electrical node types (14): grid, ups, battery, generator, solar_panel, inverter, circuit_breaker, contactor, electrical_switch, socket, light, meter, transformer, load — icons, registrations, accent colors in all 6 themes.

Electrical edge type: registered in edgeTypes, BASE_STYLES, edgeColors, all theme edgeColors, EDGE_DEFAULT_COLORS.

Bug fixes: data corruption on design switch (stale closure), race condition on save-then-load, missing Zap import, missing Electrical group in NodeModal, missing electrical entries in custom theme edgeColors, inline imports hoisted.

Pouzor 0863c2db94 feat(zigbee): import as background scan run
Mirrors IP scan flow: POST /zigbee/import-pending now creates a
ScanRun(kind=zigbee, status=running) and returns immediately.
Networkmap fetch + pending upsert run in the background, status
transitions to done/error when finished.

Frontend: import modal closes on submit, scan history shows the
run with a ZIG/IP kind chip and toasts on completion. Pending
modal auto-refreshes when run finishes.

scan_runs.kind column added (default 'ip', idempotent migration).
Existing zigbee tests refactored to exercise _persist_pending_import
directly (background tasks don't see the test session); route test
verifies the run is created with kind=zigbee.

Pouzor 3ae159d8d6 feat(zigbee): import to pending section with edge persistence
Coordinator auto-approves to a canvas Node; routers/end devices land in
pending_devices keyed by IEEE. Discovered parent->child edges are stored
in pending_device_links so that approving a pending device later
auto-creates the Edge once both endpoints exist as canvas Nodes.

- new POST /api/v1/zigbee/import-pending (default mode in modal)
- new pending_device_links table; ieee_address on nodes + pending_devices
- pending_devices.ip migrated to nullable (table rebuild on existing DBs)
- approve / bulk-approve return auto-created edges; sidebar pushes them
into the canvas store with bottom -> top-t handles
- ZigbeeImportModal: radio toggle pending vs canvas; reset on close
- PendingDeviceModal: zigbee badge, IEEE/LQI/vendor/model rows, services
  hidden for zigbee
- Sidebar pending row: ZIG source badge, LQI badge, friendly_name fallback
- SearchBar: null-safe IP, also searches friendly_name and ieee_address
- Tooltip trigger uses asChild to avoid nested-button hydration error

Pouzor 38c5bcb606 feat: configurable bottom handles, scanner rewrite, UI polish
## New features
- Configurable bottom connection points per node (1–4 handles)
- Fit view on load
- LiveView improvements
- Node modal: inline Type/Icon picker, default icon in trigger
- Remove redundant Save button from ScanConfigModal

## Scanner fixes
- Phase 1: replace nmap ARP sweep with concurrent asyncio ping sweep
(50 parallel pings, 1s timeout). Zero false positives, works in any
Docker network mode. Supplements with /proc/net/arp for ICMP-blocked devices.
- Phase 2: explicit -sS (root) / -sT (non-root) scan type; bump
  host-timeout to 60s; gather(return_exceptions=True) so one failing
  host doesn't abort the batch
- Fix 404 on missing device in hide/ignore
- Validate CIDR ranges to prevent nmap injection
- Thread-safe cancel set, pre-fetch canvas/hidden IPs (no N+1 queries)
- Logging: attach StreamHandler to root logger so app.* logs are visible

## Tests
- 21 backend scanner tests (ping sweep, ARP cache, Phase 2 tolerance)
- Full NodeModal coverage (53 tests)

- Expose parent_id in update_node MCP tool schema so the MCP SDK
forwards it to the backend instead of stripping it
- Add regression tests in both backend and MCP layers

Pouzor 41cfccbd37 feat: add edge flow animation (dot traveling source→target)
- Add animated toggle per edge in EdgeModal (cyan switch, "Flow Animation")
- SVG-native <animate> element for reliable cross-browser dot animation
- Persist animated field: backend model, schemas (EdgeBase/EdgeUpdate/EdgeSave), DB migration
- Include animated in App.tsx edgesToSave serialization so it survives save/reload
- Add animated: bool to EdgeData TypeScript type

Pouzor 4511763bac fix: persist custom_icon on canvas save + add CCTV icon
- NodeSave schema was missing custom_icon field — icon reset to default on reload
- handleSave was not including custom_icon in the payload
- CameraNode now uses Cctv icon (clearer than Camera)
- Added 'cctv' entry to ICON_REGISTRY for the icon picker

Pouzor f43a94a403 fix: persist sourceHandle/targetHandle so cluster edges survive reload 2026-03-08 11:32:38 +01:00
Pouzor d98bfba506 feat: add custom icon picker to node create/edit modal
- Add 65+ icons across 7 categories (Infrastructure, Media, Monitoring,
Storage, Security, Automation, Dev & Containers, Communications) covering
popular self-hosted apps: Home Assistant, Jellyfin, Plex, Grafana, Portainer,
Pi-hole, Vaultwarden, Gitea, Nextcloud, Node-RED, Frigate, etc.
- New nodeIcons.ts utility with ICON_REGISTRY, ICON_MAP and resolveNodeIcon()
- Inline icon picker in NodeModal: collapsible panel with search + grid grouped
by category; click to select, click again or Reset to revert to type default
- BaseNode uses resolveNodeIcon() so custom icon renders live on canvas
- Add custom_icon field to NodeData type, NodeBase/NodeUpdate schemas, Node ORM
model, and database.py idempotent ALTER TABLE migration

Pouzor 974e782057 fix: resolve all 64 mypy errors across backend
- Add dict[str, Any] / list[Any] type params throughout (fingerprint, models, schemas, scanner, status_checker)
- Add return type annotations to all route functions (nodes, edges, canvas, scan, auth, status, main)
- Fix no-any-return in security.py: cast pwd/jwt results to bool/str explicitly
- Fix canvas.py: use model_validate() for NodeResponse/EdgeResponse, rename db_node/db_edge upsert vars
- Fix scheduler.py: rename 'result' → 'check_result' to avoid type collision
- Fix get_db() return type: AsyncGenerator[AsyncSession, None]
- Add types-PyYAML for yaml import stubs
- Fix scanner.py: remove unnecessary type: ignore comment (nmap has stubs)
- Fix scan.py: wrap scalars().all() with list() for Sequence→list compatibility

Pouzor 8437f5ef49 feat: customizable link color per edge
- Add custom_color field to EdgeData type, Edge DB model and all schemas
- HomelableEdge applies custom_color as stroke override (before selected highlight)
- EDGE_DEFAULT_COLORS extracted to utils/edgeColors.ts (react-refresh compliant)
- EdgeModal: color picker row showing effective color (custom or type default)
with hex value, Reset button when custom color is active
- Auto-migration adds custom_color column to edges table

Pouzor 37c963cf96 feat: per-node custom color styling (border, background, icon)
- Add resolveNodeColors() utility merging type defaults with per-node overrides
- Default colors per node type (cyan=isp/router/lxc/ap, green=switch/nas,
  purple=server/vm, orange=proxmox, amber=iot, gray=generic)
- Remove glowColor prop from BaseNode — colors now come from node data
- ProxmoxGroupNode uses resolveNodeColors for group border/header/icon
- NodeModal: Appearance section with 3 color swatches (border, background, icon)
  — click swatch to open native color picker; Reset to defaults button
- custom_colors persisted as JSON in DB (backend model + schemas + migration)
- 7 new unit tests for resolveNodeColors covering all node types + partial overrides

Pouzor 4fb9a8ee45 feat: edge edit mode + proxmox container mode toggle
- Double-click any link to open Edit Link modal (type, label, VLAN ID, delete)
- Add updateEdge / deleteEdge actions to canvasStore
- Add container_mode field to proxmox nodes (backend model, schemas, migration)
- NodeModal shows container toggle for proxmox type (defaults ON)
- ProxmoxGroupNode renders as regular BaseNode when container_mode is OFF
- setProxmoxContainerMode store action handles structural changes atomically
  (children parentId/extent, node dimensions)
- CanvasContainer filters edges between container proxmox and its children
- Canvas load respects container_mode when assigning parentId/extent

Pouzor 9eba62c5b5 fix: save button now fully persists canvas to DB
Root cause: handleAddNode/handleEdgeConfirm only updated Zustand store,
never creating records in the DB. canvasApi.save() only updated positions
of existing nodes, so nothing survived a page refresh.

Fix: save now sends the full canvas state (all nodes + edges + data) and
the backend does a full sync — upsert incoming, delete anything removed.
This means Save is the single source of truth: no need to call individual
create/update/delete APIs for every drag or edit.
